What do you do when the weather is cold and rain pours nonstop? You take the session indoors. First time ever photographing inside Canton’s Palace Theater and I loved it. What an elegant place to be, full of history too. This session was a bit challenging, the thing about theaters is that they are very dark places. So I definitely had to rock some off camera lighting. This technique takes a bit longer since the lighting must be rearranged from shot to shot. Overall I am very pleased with the shots. This session also concludes an amazing year for me. It’s been a while since I’ve done an early morning engagement session. And I’ve found myself in a pretty spectacular scenario. The sun rising over foggy fields was just that extra touch.

It always amazes me the places that my trusty camera takes me. I mean really… I got to shoot at Progressive Field with a fantastic couple! The engagement took off at Lake Erie’s Edgewater  park right near downtown Cleveland. And it transitioned to the home of the Cleveland Indians. There, we had free range to shoot anywhere and it was AWESOME!! I felt like a little kid… Cannot wait to the wedding! We actually have some history, I photographed Dani’s sister’s wedding and her brother’s too. It’s a reunion all over again!

One of the very first things that Ashley requested when she booked me for her wedding was for me to do some night time photography. So I figured I experiment with long exposure portraits for their Engagement Session. The session took place at the Cleveland Museum of Art. We started inside the museum, they do not allow flash so I relied on my Nikon D700′s awesome ISO performance. It got really interesting after we left the museum.  Outside, I put the camera on a tripod and did anywhere from 10-20 sec exposure with a hint of flash to freeze the subject. I’m very happy with how some of these turned out.

Last weekend my cousin Nelson and his fiance Leah drove all the way from Wisconsin to Cleveland for their Engagement Session. On the way they encountered many obstacles, first they got stuck in Indiana because of a snow storm, then his car starts giving issues and he takes to the mechanic! But off they went determined to get their photos done. I hope it was worth the trip Can’t wait for the wedding!!

The Engagement Session took place in downtown Cleveland. It was very cold! Leah has never visited Cleveland before and it’s been years since Nelson visited. It was nice to give them a little tour of our fine city.

Yesterday I stepped out of my comfort zone and gave myself a little challenge. I experimented with night photography for part one of Ashley and Andy’s Engagement Session. Of course I had to use a tripod for these, something rare to my technique, I truly never use a tripod. I gotta say that this session was by far one of the most challenging, it took a lot of patience. Some of the photos where exposed for around 30 seconds!

Don’t wanna give to much away

I got to spend a really fun time taking engagement photos. The wedding is this Saturday, October 30th and I’m very happy to capture that for them.

Fall is by far one of my favorite seasons. The colors alone are enough of a reason:) So Melissa and Andy celebrate their Engagement with a lovely Session at the metroparks. The oranges and yellows from the falling leaves blended really well with the morning sun and love filled the October skies.

Last week, Courtney and Matt decided to take a brave step and go on with their Engagement Session despite the wet and cold weather. The session took place down in Columbus and it was interesting coming up with ways to avoid the water, we found bridges, trees and even restaurants We had a great time and I’m really happy to capture their wedding next year.
