These two have so much passion for beer they just had to have their wedding ceremony at a brewery. Henry and Allison held their wedding celebrations at Butcher and Brewer on E 4th, at the her of downtown Cleveland. It was a small celebration, around 60 of their closest friends and family attended. They didn’t want to go big on a wedding, but they cared very much about photography. They needed up getting an amazing wedding album for themselves and two copies for the parents. The book is amazing, I have copy myself at the office to show it off.
It really feels like yesterday. I was 15 years old at the time working at McDonalds on Clark Ave in Cleveland. My stepfather David, rushed through the drive thru window and with his South African accent said ” we have to go, your mother is in labor! “. It was a day I will never forget. I never thought I would become a big brother at the age of 15, my mother was in her 40s at the time! My mother wanted me to be there in the delivery room to witness the birth of my sister. In retrospect what was hours really just felt like minutes. I was nervous, my heart pounding, the only thing that could calm my nerves and still does till this day was a camera in front of my face. Once my eye looks through that viewfinder I feel fearless, invincible. And then for the very first time in my life, I witnessed a birth, the beginning of life. My sister Laura was born. It truly is unbelievable that here I am, at 33 years old writing and posting of my sisters Senior photos. This Saturday we celebrate her graduation, the start of a new beginning. She is an amazing young woman, so proud of her. I’m sure someday I’ll be writing and sharing images from her wedding day, but please not too soon.
If you are from Northeast Ohio, you already know about it’s bipolar weather. Story of my Cleveland photography life is that when I schedule a session months in advance chances are the weather will not be in my favor. Sometimes I can reschedule, but in the case of Shannon and Dan it just wasn’t possible. Dan is a general manager to a chain of restaurants and the poor guy works all the freaking time. So come the date of the engagement session we just went ahead and braved through the crazy downpour. We took shelter under a bridge in the Cleveland Flats. I have no fear of rain, I’ve been doing this for a long time! If you are from Cleveland, nothing comes easy, right. The rain added another level of romance to the images. And one huge bonus with rain, puddles make for breathtaking reflections.
