Ahh!! Finally! The sun was out, the temperature was just right, the sky was blue. And to top that I got to spend the day with newly weds Allison & Matt. This was in fact my very first time meeting the groom, he proudly serves our country and is constantly traveling. So an engagement session wasn’t even an option. But feeling comfortable with these two was too easy, they both have personalities that shine. Nothing but smiles all day long! Congratulations to Allison & Matt!

Rockefeller Park Greenhouse Engagement Session, Barb & Antonio

Had the pleasure of meeting this awesome couple at a bridal show this winter. Being my first bridal show I really didn’t know what to expect. Lucky for me I met Barb & Antonio at the fair and a few months later they booked me to photograph their wedding next year. Very excited to capture the big day for them!

The engagement session started at Ohio City near the West Side Market. The first place they met was at Moda on West 25th, it’s a bummer that the place has been shut down for a few years. It would have been awesome to start our session inside the place. We hoped that the huge sign in the front was still there but it wasn’t. But that didn’t stop us to get some photos by the smaller sign in the back. We took a few more photos in the area and later headed to University Circle. The destination was Rockefeller Park Greenhouse, this was a place fond of memories for Barb since her father is an employee there and she’s visited the place for many years. It work out well, it started drizzling outside as we headed inside, the timing was perfect. The Rockefeller Greenhouse is a great place for a shoot, what better backdrop than gardens and exotic flowers. Congratulations to Barb and Antonio! See you next year!

Cleveland Engagement Session, Oriana & Mike

When I first met Mike and Oriana I knew right away that I wanted to photograph them. Just listening to the different ideas about their wedding made me very excited with the idea. And to hear that she has a little bit of a photography background just sealed the deal.

For the Engagement Session we headed downtown, started at the W 6th are and worked our way down the east bank of the flats. It was a bit crowded in downtown that day, I believe the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame induction concerts where in progress. No biggie, we hit up isolated areas along the way. One thing that I love shooting downtown is the architecture. Gives me room to really play with composition. It seemed that this style would suit them very well.

During the shoot I had the pleasure of shooting a roll of Kodak Portra 800 35mm film on my Nikon F5. Those photos will be posted on a later date along with my review of the film and the camera. In the meantime, please enjoy the following images. We had a blast taking them. Congratulations to Oriana and Mike on their engagement!

For the photo geeks: this last shot I used a CTO warming gel on my flash and balanced for tungsten. A little trick to turn a gray sky blue.

Middleburg Hts. Engagement Session, Kristen & Nate

Typically by the time I shoot an Engagement Session the couple has already met me and booked my services for the wedding date. When Kristen first contact me she was only enquiring about the engagement session. And of course I wanted to do the session, engagement sessions are my favorite. She later showed interest to have me photograph her wedding next year after they picked a date. So the first meeting with me was spent in front of my camera. I loved it! I mean, what better way to get to know each other. And let me tell you, we had a blast. Oh, and I’ll be shooting the wedding next year!

The session took place at a metropark in the Middleburg hts area. I can’t never remember the name! It was the one next to the Polaris Career Center parking lot. It’s the second time I come to this place for a session. It was a bit cloudy but no rain, thankfully Cleveland weather gives me a break once in a while. This type of weather is ideal for portraits, the cloudy sky acts like a big soft box and softens shadows. I also brought along my 35mm film camera and shot a roll of New Kodak Portra 160 35mm film. Those shots will be posted at a later date with a brief review of the film stock used. No particular reason to shoot some film. I enjoy both digital and film for what they do. One thing I love about shooting film is the anticipation to get your images back from the lab. It’s kinda like a mystery.

Speaking of mystery, this session took place Friday the 13th. The last portrait on this post was inspired by it. Enjoy!

Cleveland Engagement Session, Jazmyn & Raishaun

This time I was very thankful for the weather forecast to be wrong. It was calling for rain and lighting and I was fearing that the session would get cancelled. Canceling would have not been good at all, the wedding is just a month away! But it was a perfect evening with a beautiful hour of golden light that was caressing the Cleveland skyline. This bride to be was more than ready. She brought outfits for every location and colors. Photographing these two was almost too easy. Congratulations to Raishaun and Jazmyn on their engagement! My first wedding of the year is here and I’m very excited to share. It’s was one of those weddings that you pretty much know everyone from the wedding before. So it was a blast to see everyone and capture such a special day for Tammy and Brad. Parma, OH was the location for both ceremony and reception, not too many guest, just closest friends and family. Oh yeah, did I mention I did Tammy’s daughter’s wedding a couple of years ago! And I shot Amanda’s husband’s sister’s wedding and will soon shoot her twin sister’s wedding this coming April. They pretty much treat me like family

Happy Valentines Day from EM Event Photography!

It is my pleasure to start what I hope it will become a tradition. Few weeks ago I brainstormed to do something special for Valentines day, I put it up for vote thru Facebook. Thus the idea to have a Valentines portrait came about, fourteen minute sessions for fourteen dollars each. Crazy right! I guess is my way of giving back to those that have supported me these years of starting a business. My style of photography is supported by the act of Love, we must celebrate it!

It was around twenty nine degrees that day, the ground was covered with snow, I was worried that no one would show up. But it turned out an incredible adventure! I photographed folks that I haven’t seen in years. Past clients, old friends, expecting mothers, and even little ones joined me at Wade Lagoon in University Circle in my crazy adventure. Many thanks to all of you!!
