Let me just start of by saying that I absolutely love shooting with wide angle primes. I got the feeling that my new/used Nikon 35mm f/2D lens will have a hard time leaving my camera.

My previous choice for wide was the Sigma 20mm f/1.8, I bought the lens before switching from a cropped sensor on my Nikon D200 to my D700 which has a full frame sensor. What does that mean? The lens looks awesome in my D200 but looked way too wide on my D700. It looks specifically weird when photographing people, it distorts quiet a bit, making people look like they are melting a little. But it’s still an amazing lens to use for all around. And it will certainly come out of my camera bag on every wedding. However, my new best friend is my Nikon 35mm f/2D lens. It is one of the cheapest version of the 35′s but to my surprise an all around amazing lens. The focusing is very fast for a D lens and it’s sharp at it’s widest aperture of F2. And it allows me to get pretty close to my subject, almost as close as a macro lens. The wide angle feels natural and distortion is minimal. I cannot wait to shoot some weddings with this bad boy!

On Friday, March 18th, 2011, the world welcomed my niece Solangel Isabela Morales. I don’t think I have ever seen my sister Almarie so happy before. It was a dream come true! Congrats sis! I know you will be the greatest mommy

Umm yeah! Can you believe it! One whole year! My wife and I shared a few tears  But I’m so happy to see my babies becoming little people, they amaze me everyday. We also discovered that they love cake!

This is part two of my Rolleicord III expired film experiment. It’s amazing all the neat things that you come across when you are on a mission of discovery.

In my journey to going back to film I came across this awesome antique twin lens reflex camera. The Rolleicord III was build in the 1950,s by the Rollei-Werke Franke and Heidecke corporation. When the camera first arrived it did have some flaws, the shutter had what they call a sticky shutter and the inside of the camera needed some cleaning. I took it to my local camera shop and they went ahead and fixed the problems for me. They charged me an arm and a leg!!!! But it was worth it. The camera works perfect. It takes 120 medium format size film. My choice of film to try it out is 120 T-Max B&W Film. My model for the test is my father. I’m hoping to explore more with this camera. Recently I acquired 40 rolls of 120 expired film. Can’t wait to see what random results I’ll get from the experiments.
